Abstract:As an advanced metal plastic forming and surface treatment process, laser peen technology has a broad application prospect in aerospace industry. The energy density of laser shock is stronger than that of shot peening, which enables LSP to form sheet metal with larger stiffness, such as integrated panels on airplane. In this research, a multiscale FEM simulation method of laser peen forming (LPF) was established to calculate the laser induced stress field and to predict the deformed curvature of workpieces. The prediction results have been verified through LSP experiments on square 2024–T351 block test pieces and typical H-shaped beams, which proves the simulation method is effective.
