Abstract:Titanium alloy is well known as a kind of difficult to machine material because of its high chemical activity,
low thermal conductivity, and small elastic module. With the development of the industrial technology, there is a higher
demand for the surface integrity of titanium alloys in modern industry, so it is very important to investigate the grinding
and polishing method, which is a method to get a better surface of the titanium alloys. An experiment on the influence of
the machining parameters on surface roughness is carried out using the Box-Behnken Design (BBD), then a quadratic predictive
meodel of surface roughness based on response surface method (RSM) is built. The optimum values of machining
parameters with respect to Ra are found through optimization.
