Abstract:With the development of digitization, automation and flexibility in aircraft manufacturing assembly, digitized measurement system becomes an important component in fl exible assembly technology. Work-space Measurement and Positioning System (wMPS) is a novel network system which can realize precise measurement in large-scale space. It has the characteristics of high precision, wide range and multi-tasks. Based on the system principle and architecture, the application in aircraft assembly is introduced. In consideration of huge number of components, different sizes and complex shapes, utilizing wMPS as a global control network combined with terminal accurate measurement to achieve high effi ciency, high precision and low-cost digital assembly is proposed. As a new type of digitized measurement system, wMPS will have a signifi cant application prospect in aviation manufacturing.
