Abstract Pre-alloyed Inconel 718 powder was prepared by electrode induction melting gas atomization (EIGA) and then characterized. Powder metallurgy (PM) Inconel 718 alloys was prepared through a typical hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) route and its mechanical properties were tested. The mechanical properties were close to that of forgings. The numerical simulation of hot isostatic pressing of Inconel 718 ring was carried out by using the finite element method. Combined with the capsule design, the whole near net shape of PM Inconel 718 complex structure parts was realized.
