Abstract In this work, the dissolution behavior of TiAl 45XD were analyzed, the comparison of theoretical and practical dissolution behavior curves indicated that TiAl 45XD displayed good feasibility of electrochemical machining (ECM). The effects of ending inter-electrode gap, pulse durations, and vibrating periods on the machining surface quality were investigated by varying the ECM parameters. The obtained surface exhibited high quality surface without intergranular corrosion and pitting with optimizing process parameters. The process validation were carried out on TiAl 45XD blade samples and the obtained blades showed the roughness of 0.61 μm and concave and convex profile tolerance of – 0.015 mm – + 0.022 mm, which lays a foundation for the electrolytic machining of typical components with complex profiles of TiAl 45XD alloy.
