Abstract The fatigue test technology of structure of particle reinforced aluminum matrix composite was studied. A vibration fatigue test method for high order mode is presented. The results show that the theoretical and measured vibration characteristics of the structures are consistent. Under the third mode , the vibration stress and amplitude of the test piece still obey the linear change rule. The theoretical and practical damage sites are the same, it shows that the proposed method is effective. The method shortens the period by two thirds on the basis of ensuring the accuracy of the test. It is of significance to evaluate the fatigue performance of particle reinforced aluminum matrix composite structures and promote the engineering application of new materials and new structures.
