Abstract SiC ceramic matrix composite (SiC/SiC) has excellent high-temperature mechanical properties and thermal stability, and has shown great application potential in hot-end parts of aeroengine. However, SiC ceramic matrix composite would encounter the corrosion in the water vapor environment, therefore, environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) is essential. The bond coat which can enhance the adhesion between the EBCs and the substrate, and reduce the thermal expansion mismatch between the substrate and the coating, plays an important role. This paper reviews the EBCs bond coat, including the Si bond coat and the composite bond coat, and finally prospects the development direction of the EBCs bond coat.
