Abstract Error compensation technology is an effective and economical method to improve the machining accuracy of machine tools. Based on the temperature compensation function provided by SIEMENS numerical control system and the comprehensive error model based on BP neural network, a real-time compensation method of comprehensive errors for machine tool is proposed. Based on the proposed error compensation method and ARM platform, a set of real-time error compensation system is designed and developed. The comprehensive error compensation experiment of machine tools during processing is tested on linkage gantry CNC machine tool QLM27100. The experimental results show that the maximum error of the test part is reduced by 59.1%, which verifies the effectiveness of the compensation method.
