Abstract γ -TiAl-based alloys have superior high temperature performances which make them to be the important
candidate materials in the service temperature range of 650-900℃ for aeroengines. This paper has reviewed the current development
and application of TiAl alloys, and the progresses on hot-processing techniques have been stressed in terms of
ingot-melting, foundry, canned-forging and canned-extrusion, etc. Opportunities and challenges in low-costs near-net shape
forming technique for TiAl alloys have been identified.
