Abstract：The pictures of rear face wear of cutting tool are taken by wear detection technology. The wear status is analyzed and wear amount is decided based on wear pictures. The simulation of long-time cutting tool wear is realized by the method combined with discrete cutting tool wear process and FE simulation. The principle, construction and detection process of wear detector are introduced. And the initial application of wear detector in cutting parameter optimization of diffi cult-to-cut material and new cutting tool selection is carried out.
