Abstract: Composite equivalence plays an important role in airworthiness certification of civil composite aircraft. Based on the verification principle of composite equivalence, a method for verifying equivalence was investigated for the key parameters that control the properties of composites. Theoretical analysis method of the type 2 error in the composite equivalence was derived by the method of hypothesis test and the measures to reduce the probability of type 2 error were discussed. The results show that the hypothesis test is used to verify the composite equivalence. More attention should be paid to type 2 error. Increasing the number of test samples can reduce the probability of type 2 error. In order to control the type 2 error and reduce the cost of verification, the location of composite application in civil aircraft should be taken into account to select the number of samples.
