Abstract:The property of materials is largely controlled by its microstructure, and the ideal microstructure can be realized by optimizing the forming process. Additive manufacturing is a typical non-equilibrium solidification process, which is also an emerging near-net-shape manufacturing technology. In the non-equilibrium solidification process, dendrite growth is difficult to directly observe, and phase field simulation can effectively predict the dynamic evolution of crystal structure with process change. This paper summarizes the application of phase field simulation in additive manufacturing and points out its development trend, which can provide a reference for the phase field simulation research in the rapid solidification of additive manufacturing.
