Abstract Powder metallurgy near net shaping (PM-NNS) technology can prepare complex PM components with excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. The principle and advantages of hot isostatic pressing are introduced. The research status of PM-NNS technology in aerospace engines at home and abroad is reviewed. The influencing factors and defect control of the component preparation process are briefly described from the aspects of process route and component development. Some research work and application of PM-NNS in aerospace engine by Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences are reported. Finally, the main problems and development directions of PM-NNS were summarized, in order to further expand the application of this technology.
