Abstract Under the condition of certain conventional friction welding parameters, the effects of braking time difference and upsetting rate on deformation of NiCr20TiAl/4Cr10Si2Mo friction welding interface are studied. It is found when braking time difference is 0.3s, and upsetting rate is 30mm/s, interlaced friction welding interface is formed, therefore, a new way to improve the tenacity of dissimilar high strength metal friction welding joint is found.
