Abstract The fracture profi le and interface of SiC fi ber reinforced Ti6Al4V (SiC f /Ti6Al4V) are analyzed, the infl uence of C coating on the inter-diffusion between fiber and matrix, the thickness and composition of reaction layer, tensile fracture profi le is researched. It indicates that SiC f /Ti6Al4V composites made of C coated fi ber has a weaker interface and a thicker reaction layer comparing with uncoated fi ber, the coating can prevent the fi ber mechanical properties from decreasing during the consolidation process, and a high tensile strength is achieved.
