Abstract In order to establish the Johnson-Cook constitutive model of 7B04 aluminium alloy, a series of quasi-static compression tests and orthogonal cutting tests were conducted to fit the model parameters. Based on the tests data, it was presented a strain softening term and a equation of strain rate parameter. At last, the constitutive model was proved to be reasonable and accurate via test verification.
