Abstract In the method of defects presets, high temperature alloy honeycomb panels with desoldering are made and
the influence on damage mode and load capacity caused by defects shape, size, location and core tropism are studied by
three point bending test. The investigation shows that reverse bulge appears in the defects compression area and extends to
complete damage along the width direction and the load capacity of the honeycomb panel reduces along with the rising of
defect size. When the defect is located in the extruded area, the honeycomb panels will have higher ultimate bending load
and that of rectangular defect sample is higher than that of circular defect sample. Finally, in order to get the stress distribution
state in bending process, the three point bending performance of high temperature alloy honeycomb panels with circular
defect is analyzed by numerical simulation based on LS-DYNA.
