Function Requirements of CNC System for Intelligent Manufacturing

Abstract:“Intelligence” is the core element of “China’s manufacturing 2025”, and the CNC system is the key to the
realization of intelligent manufacturing equipment. Firstly, the idea that the information interconnection and the open standard
data interface of the network machine tool are the premises for realizing intelligentization of CNC device is proposed.
Examples have been given to illustrate the advantages of STEP-NC in general data connection aspect. Secondly, The characteristics
of the communication bus which is suitable for CNC systems are summarized. Then on the base of these, the
importance of process data in the production process and the requirement of the new generation CNC system is introduced.
Aimed at the demand of manufacturing data platform, the data mining technology from big data is introduced. Based on the
above two points, we finally sum up the function that intelligent CNC system can have, relying on the technology of large
data platform. Implementation scheme of intelligent process planning and process parameter auto tuning as well as the convenience
of intelligent numerical control to high speed and high precision machining is mainly analyzed.
