Abstract:Mechanical enhanced nacre-like clay nanocomposite was fabricated by the incorporation of nano cellulose
(CMF) into polymer (PVA, starch and casein)/clay system via solvent evaporation. SEM was used to analyze the cross
section of corresponding nanocomposites, and XRD was employed to study the interspace of clay nanosheet. Tensile test
was used to analysis the influence of CMF content on mechanical behavior. The results indicate that after the incorporation
of polymer, the interspace of nanosheet was increased while change seldom occurs after the introduction of nano cellulose.
Because of the bridging effect induced by nano cellulose, the as-prepared nanocomposites show largely enhanced mechanical
property, and the extent of enhancement is depend on the polymer type and concentration.
