The development status of thermal barrier coating materials, structures and preparation technologies is reviewed. The preparation methods of plasma spraying (PS), electron beam-physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) and plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD) are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of different processes are compared. PS-PVD has high deposition efficiency, long thermal cycling life of coatings, and can realize non-line of sight deposition. Thus, PS-PVD has good development and application prospects. Finally, the development trends of thermal barrier coating materials, preparation technology and performance evaluation are prospected.
