Abstract The work-in-progress inventory control model in discrete manufacturing system is established. The effects of demand stabilized strategy, production delay strategy and inventory strategy on work-in-process inventory in model are analyzed in detail. Based on the effect of simulation analysis system parameters on work-in-process inventory, the advantages of work-in-process inventory control by means of applying process control technology and integrating the application process control with statistic process control in discrete manufacturing process are pointed out.
