Applications of High Performance Thermoplastic Composites in Civil Aviation

Abstract:The amount of high-performance composite materials, especially carbon fiber-reinforced resin-based composite materials, has become an important indicator of the advancement of civil aircraft. Among them, thermoplastic composites have attracted extensive attention in the field of civil aviation due to their outstanding toughness, recyclability and rapid low-cost manufacturing advantages over thermosetting composites, and have achieved significant application effects in recent years. This article reviews the application of thermoplastic composite materials based on high-performance thermoplastic resins such as polyphenylene sulfide, poly aryl ether ketone, and polyetherimide in foreign civil aviation structures, and provides a reference for the application direction of thermoplastic composite materials in China.
